The VNA Foundation, Inc. was formed as the successor organization to the VNA Healthcare Group of Florida (VNA) in 1997 following the sale of the operating business of the VNA to the Orlando Regional Healthcare System. The VNA Healthcare Group of Florida had operated a variety of home healthcare related businesses, primarily known as the Visiting Nurse Association in the general Central Florida area, based in Orlando for approximately the  45 years, which ended December 31, 1996.

Following the name change to The VNA Foundation, the Organization modified and changed its mission statement to provide for grant funding to worthy 501c(3) non-profit organizations. During the past twenty-five years the Foundation has been proud to provide funding for a number of local organizations. Through December 31, 2022, the Foundation has provided various grants totalling over $4,200,000.
